“Don’t Be Scared. Face Everything, Whether Good or Bad, with Bravery and Joy”- The Story of Lixia Zhao
more When I first started, I had no idea what this would be like, nor did I know how, or what, to teach so I was pretty nervous. Over the past few months volunteering as a LEGAC tutor, I feel like I have learned a lot and have gotten better at teaching overall. Throughout this experience, I also inadvertently learned how to set up many programs on my computer which I use in class, such as OBS, Krita, and audio cables. In addition, teaching others made me better understand the topic I was teaching and was also a great refresher to concepts I previously have forgotten
about.
I feel that overall this was a good experience that developed my skills and was quite enjoyable, especially in the one-on-one classes, where the classes were more interactive. It was satisfying to see the improvement in the students’ abilities and knowledge. Since it was only a little while a week, I had time to do many other activities. I do feel, however, that 40 minutes is a little bit short on time. Because I don’t usually practice these concepts, I learn things and gainunderstanding as well while teaching.
